How do nominations work?

We encourage you to nominate the company or tech manager you work for in any of the our five award categories (Best Tech Startup, Best Tech Manager, Best Tech Work Culture, Best Enterprise Tech Employer, and Best Tech for Good). Nominated companies and managers must have a tech team located in the city in which you are nominating for.

Is there a fee to apply?

It is completely FREE to apply and submit a nomination for the Timmy Awards! Tech in Motion is a free event series, all our events are free to attend, participate, etc.

We are not a tech company, can we still apply?

Yes! The Timmy Awards are open to all industries. We aim to recognize companies and people creating the best places for technology professionals to work. Therefore, when submitting a nomination, you’ll specifically want to highlight your tech team.

When is the deadline to submit a nomination?

The nominations period for the 2021 Timmy Awards has been extended! The deadline to submit an application is now Wednesday, September 8th, 2021. Feel free to look over, make any edits and/or add additional nomination categories to your form until then. Your answers will not be visible to the judges or general public until voting opens on Tuesday, September 14th. 

What cities are accepting nominations?

Atlanta | Boston | Charlotte | Chicago | Dallas | Los Angeles | New York | Orange County | Philadelphia | San Francisco | Silicon Valley | Toronto | Washington DC

You can nominate in one or more cities, provided you have tech team members located in that area.

Can I enter in more than one category?

Absolutely! We encourage you to enter for as many of the five categories that you deem appropriate for your company. It is not uncommon for exceptional workplaces to be honored in more than one category.

Can I edit my nomination after submitted?

Yes, you can edit or add additional categories to your submission up until the nomination deadline.

What is the time commitment involved?

Following the submission of your nomination form, which takes ~10-30 minutes to complete, there will be a voting period that you and your network are encouraged to participate in. Voting will run from Monday, September 13th to Friday, September 24th. If you are selected as a 2021 winner there will be an opportunity for you to give a pre-recorded acceptance speech during our award ceremony this October.

What information should I include in my nomination?

The key to submitting an award-winning nomination is providing the Timmy Awards committee and our expert panel of judges with specific information that highlights what the organization or individual is doing to create an exemplary tech work culture and how those efforts have been successful. The number of examples (and how you present them) is not as important as ensuring that the nominee’s contributions and achievements match the specific award criteria for that category, and that there are measurable results.
